Fluminense and Flamengo play at Maracanã for the Carioca title

Fluminense and Flamengo will play from 18:00 (Brasilia time) this Saturday (2) to decide who gets the title of the Carioca Championship. THE National Radio broadcasts the decisive Fla-Flu live.Fluminense and Flamengo play at Maracanã for the Carioca title

After winning the first leg by 2 to 0, last Wednesday (30), Tricolor das Laranjeiras arrives with a good advantage to lift the mug. Thus, Fluminense can lose even by a goal difference that gets the title, while Flamengo has to win by three goals difference to win the state in the 90 minutes, or, at least, triumph by two goals advantage to go to the penalty shootout.

Even with the victory achieved in the first confrontation, the Laranjeiras team arrives at the match trying to remove the role of favorite. According to coach Abel Braga, in an interview after the first game, it is not necessary to hold on to any advantage: “Let’s see now, the next game is another story. For us it has to start 0-0. It’s no use thinking about advantage”.

Positive news for Tricolor is the return of important players: forward Fred, who was suspended after being sent off against Botafogo in the semifinals, and defender Nino and winger Luiz Henrique, both recovered from injury.

However, coach Abel Braga showed signs that he does not intend to make any changes: “Am I going to say that I’m going to change for the next game? I will change nothing”. Thus, if he chooses to repeat the lineup, Fluminense will enter the field with: Fábio; Calegari, Manoel, David Braz and Cris Silva; Felipe Melo, André, Yago Felipe and Ganso; Willian Bigode and German Cano.

On the other side of the field will be a Flamengo who, despite the challenge of having to reverse an adverse score, believes he can win the title. “We are going to reverse the situation, I have no doubt, especially at the level of the game we present”, said Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa shortly after the match last Wednesday.

And the commander of the Gávea team has a clear script of what must be done to win Carioca: “First, we need to score three goals, we have the capacity to do so. We have the tactical ability to overcome our opponent, even an opponent who has a two-goal advantage. [O Fluminense] will remain closed and looking for wrong decisions by Flamengo at an individual level. But we have confidence in the processes, in the squad and in our players to overcome this difficult path and be tetra.”

However, the Portuguese coach will have to deal with a certain absence for the decisive game, forward Vitinho injured his right thigh in the first match against Fluminense. One doubt is defender Fabrício Bruno, who suffered an injury to his left foot.

On the other hand, Uruguayan Arrascaeta, who started on the bench in the first match of the final for having defended his country’s team the day before, should start the second confrontation in the starting lineup. Thus, Paulo Sousa should gain an important piece to articulate his team’s attacking plays.

In this way, Flamengo must enter the field with: Hugo; Fabricio Bruno, David Luiz and Filipe Luís; I rode; João Gomes, Andreas Pereira (Willian Arão), Éverton Ribeiro and Arrascaeta; Bruno Henrique and Gabriel Barbosa.
