With this result, Tricolor will play the second leg of the quarterfinals next Wednesday (25) in Belo Horizonte, with the possibility of advancing in the competition even in the event of a draw. Atlético, on the other hand, must win in order to qualify.
In front of more than 54,000 fans, Fluminense secured victory with a goal from Lima. The midfielder scored with a header in the 42nd minute of the second half, after a beautiful play by Keno on the left wing.
