The persistent rain recorded since Wednesday in the Miami metropolitan area, in the southeastern United States, caused dozens of vehicles from trucks and even high-end vehicles to be stranded on the streets.
According to the report from the US meteorological service, the rainfall left more than 635 mm of water in 24 hours in that city, which has 180,000 inhabitants.
The rains, considered historic by the weather service, forced Florida authorities to close schools and the Fort Lauderdale airport at least until Friday morning.
This airport is one of the most important for connecting Central and South America with South Florida, and its closure caused the cancellations and delays of flights arriving and departing from this air terminal.
