Floating Bridge temporarily closed due to dragging of lilacs and debris in the Ozama River

Santo Domingo. – He Floating Bridgewhich connects the National District with Santo Domingo Estewas temporarily closed to vehicular traffic to allow the free passage of lilacs and other organic materials carried by the current of the Ozama Riverreported the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

The measure seeks to avoid damage to the bridge structure and facilitate the cleaning and control of the channel.

Public Works specified that the reopening of the bridge will be announced in a timely manner, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Security. (DIGESETT)the Dominican Navy and the Military and Police Commission (COMIPOL).

He Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrellaurged the population to avoid unnecessary trips and stay in their homes as long as the rains continue, following the guidelines of the official authorities.

Likewise, the ministry maintains emergency brigades and teams deployed in strategic points of Greater Santo Domingo and other provincesin work of cleaning, debris removal, maintenance of filter wells and scuppersto prevent incidents derived from the atmospheric phenomenon.
