Flight overbooked, leaving delegation traveling with Defense Minister stranded in Guatemala

GUATEMALA.- Three Officials of the Dominican Armed Forces who were traveling with the Minister of Defending Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, to participate in an international meeting in Guatemala, agreed strandedafter the airline that they were supposedly going to return to Santo Domingo oversold your fly.

According to a press release this is what happened:

«Three (3) Officers of the Dominican Armed Forces who were traveling with the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ERD, to participate in the meeting of Ministers of Defense of the Superior Council of the Conference of the Central American Armed Forces (CFAC), an international event that took place in the municipality of Iztapa, were stranded at the “La Aurora” International Airport in Guatemala, since Copa Airlines allegedly oversold the flight that would allow them to return to Santo Domingo this Friday, through the Las Americas International Airport (AILA).»

The statement also indicates that according to highly reliable sources, when Minister Díaz Morfa showed up with his companions at the time and place indicated to take the flight on Friday afternoon from Guatemala to Santo Domingo with a connection in Panama City, after having assigned and pre-checked seats, three of the Army Officers were unable to board the plane because their seats were occupied by other passengers.

He adds that “given the unavoidable commitments of the Minister of Defense in the Dominican Republic this weekend, he was forced to take the flight accompanied only by one of his companions, finding himself in the uncomfortable situation of leaving his entourage behind, due to the alleged irresponsibility of the airline.”

Indicates that so far they have not been compensated the inconveniences that this generated, meanwhile the Officers remain in Guatemala waiting for the airline Copa Airlines find a solution for this.
