Flamengo and Avaí will face each other, starting at 4 pm (Brasilia time) this Saturday (12) at the Maracanã stadium, for the 38th and final round of the Brazilian Championship. The confrontation, in addition to marking the team’s last contact with the fans of the season, also marks the farewell of two recent idols of the club.
They are goalkeeper Diego Alves and midfielder Diego Ribas, both pillars of Rubro-Negro’s recent achievements.

Diego Ribas joined the Gávea team in 2016, and Diego Alves in 2017. Among the titles collected by the duo are four Campeonato Cariocas (2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021), two Brazilian Championships (2019 and 2020), two Libertadores (2019 and 2022) and a Copa do Brasil (2022), in addition to a Recopa Sudamericana and two Supercopas do Brasil. The midfielder will retire, while the goalkeeper will pursue his career in another team.
Flamengo will go after the victory to celebrate with their fans for the last time of the season and, as a gift, end the year in style. For this, some players from the so-called Hearts team will start this Saturday’s match.
However, some absences are certain: Pedro and Everton Ribeiro, summoned by Tite for the World Cup, and Arrascaeta, called to represent the Uruguayan team. Other absences are Matheus França, Victor Hugo and Mateusão, who were pulled to the under-20 of Flamengo for the dispute of the final of the Copa do Brasil of the category. Against Santos, in Vila Belmiro, they got a draw (even falling after the result), and against Ceará they won by the score of 2 to 0 and relegated Vozão.
