For the fourth year in a row, Flamengo and Athletico-PR are facing each other for the Copa do Brasil. This Wednesday (27), the red-blacks face each other at 21:30 (Brasília time), at Maracanã, in Rio de Janeiro, in the first leg of the confrontation for the quarterfinals of the competition. THE National Radio broadcasts the match live, with narration by André Luiz Mendes, comments by Waldir Luiz and reporting by Bruno Mendes.
The advantage in the recent sequence is Hurricane, which got the best in 2019 (quarterfinals) and last year (semifinals). The Cariocas advanced in the round of 16 of 2020. Before, in 2013, the confrontation was in the final, with the cup staying in Rio de Janeiro. Unlike previous years’ matches, the decisive match will be at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba, on August 17.

The teams started the walk in this Copa do Brasil in the third phase, for being involved with Libertadores. Flamengo passed through Altos-PI and Atlético-MG, while Athletico dispatched Tocantinópolis and Bahia. Paraná won the four games played, with 13 goals scored and four conceded. Strikers Pablo and Vitor Roque, with three goals each, are Hurricane’s top scorers. Cariocas have three wins and one defeat, scoring seven goals and conceding only three. Midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored twice, being the team’s protagonist in the competition.
Defender Rodrigo Caio and striker Bruno Henrique, with knee injuries, are missing from Flamengo. In comparison with the matches against Atlético-MG, for the round of 16, coach Dorival Júnior won the reinforcements of midfielder Arturo Vidal and striker Everton Cebolinha. Regarding the 2-1 victory over Avaí, last Sunday (24), at Ressacada, in Florianópolis, for the Brazilian Championship, midfielder Thiago Maia, who served a suspension, is again available. Defender Gustavo Henrique, in turn, had his departure confirmed for Fenerbahçe (Turkey).

At Athletico, forward Vitor Roque, who defended Cruzeiro at the beginning of the Copa do Brasil, is out of action, as are midfielder Christian and forwards Julimar and Reinaldo, injured. Striker Marcelo Cirino, who was in the medical department, traveled with the squad.
