Flamengo qualified for the Copa Libertadores final after defeating Vélez Sarsfield (Argentina) 2-1, on Wednesday night (7) at the Maracanã stadium. Thus, Rubro-Negro will dispute the decision of the continental competition with Athletico-PR (which eliminated Palmeiras in the other semifinal) on October 29, at the Monumental stadium in Guayaquil (Ecuador).

The classification of the Gávea team was achieved in great style, after thrashing the Argentines in the first leg by 4 to 0. It is also worth noting that Flamengo reaches the Libertadores final undefeated.
Even with the great advantage obtained in the first leg, and with the support of more than 66 thousand fans, Flamengo kept more possession of the ball in the opening minutes, but an unproductive possession against a Vélez that held back waiting for opportunities to counterattack. After securing themselves in the Libertadores final, Flamengo focuses on the Brazilian, where they take on Goiás next Sunday (11) at the Serrinha stadium.
