In the first game under the command of coach Filipe Luís, Flamengo defeated Corinthians 1-0, on Wednesday night (2) at the Maracanã stadium, in the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil. The confrontation was broadcast live on National Radio.
The victory at home gives Rubro-Negro a small advantage, which advances to the final of the competition even with a draw in the second leg, which will be played on October 20th in Itaquera. Timão will need to win by two goals to qualify at the end of the 90 minutes, while a simple victory leads to a penalty shootout.
Flamengo’s first performance under the command of its new commander, former player Filipe Luís, who replaced Tite, was marked by greater offensive momentum. From the first minutes, Rubro-Negro da Gávea created good opportunities, especially with Arrascaeta and Gabriel Barbosa. But goalkeeper Hugo Souza showed confidence to keep the score unchanged until the 31st minute of the first half, when full-back Alex Sandro advanced along the baseline and crossed the ball to score the winning goal.
Corinthians had their best opportunities after the break, with emphasis on the play in which Spaniard Héctor Hernández received a deep pass in the 20th minute of the final stage and found himself facing goalkeeper Rossi. But he ended up being caught by the opponent’s marking and got tangled up in the finish to waste a good chance.
