Flamengo, which this year won the Copa Libertadores and Copa do Brasil titles, celebrated their victories this Sunday along with thousands of fans in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
On a giant truck, the members of Flamengo -except Everton Ribeiro and Pedro, summoned by the Brazilian team for the World Cup in Qatar- lived a party that recalled the one that is lived in the streets of the city during the Rio Carnival, full of music, joy and a lot of enthusiasm.
In the streets of Rio, a crowd of smiling fans dressed in the red and black shirt of the main soccer club in this city and accompanied their idols from the beginning of the morning.
On October 29, Flamengo won its third continental title by beating fellow Brazilian Athletico Paranaense 1-0 in the final of the Libertadores played in Guayaquil (Ecuador), with a goal from striker Gabriel Barbosa ‘Gabigol’.
A week earlier, the Rio de Janeiro club had lifted the Copa do Brasil after defeating Corinthians on penalties in the final.
Precisely Gabigol was one of the protagonists this Sunday, when he received the number 10 shirt that Diego Ribas wore until the day before, who retired from the courts.
Gabigol was applauded by his followers, who also booed the Brazilian coach Adenor Leonardo Bacchi ‘Tite’ for not including him in the list for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. EFE
