Flamengo and Athletico-PR dispute 5th Brazilian final of Libertadores

The Libertadores da América final between Flamengo and Athletico-PR will be the fifth in history between two teams from Brazil. The last continental decision between two Brazilians was won by Palmeiras, who defeated Flamengo 2-1, in extra time, on November 27, 2021 at the Centenario stadium, in Montevideo (Uruguay).

In 2020, Verdão also took the title, beating Santos 1-0 at the Maracanã stadium.

The first edition of Libertadores with a Brazilian final was in 2005, when São Paulo defeated Athletico-PR. A year later, the Morumbi team returned to seek the continental conquest, but the trophy went to Internacional.
