In the auditorium of the Cusco Palace of Justice, the members of the District Implementation Committee of the Flagrancy Unit held a meeting to evaluate the results obtained during the first year of operation in the region.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that the Cusco Flagrancy Unit registers an average of 25 daily admissions, reaching a productivity rate of over 96%, which positions it among the most efficient nationwide. Likewise, the judicial district of Cusco has the greatest number of prosecutors and specialized police officers.
In addition, it was agreed to create a project to implement a pilot flagrante delicto unit in the province of La Convencion, an initiative that responds to the high citizen demand in this area. The project is based on a technical report that reports more than 1,400 complaints registered between January and October of this year, and seeks to bring quick and efficient justice to the Convento area.
Likewise, the transfer of the headquarters of the Flagrant Unit to a new operational location was approved, located at Av. Manco Cápac N° 508 – Wanchaq, as of November 4, which will allow the integration of Forensic Medicine services and criminalistics laboratories, strengthening inter-institutional care and optimizing response times in cases of flagrante delicto.
Finally, technical issues linked to the competence of flagrante delicto courts and prosecutors were addressed, within the framework of Law No. 32348, which regulates the National System Specialized in Criminal Flagrancy, agreeing to issue an interpretive district agreement and promote a discussion between specialized judges and prosecutors, with the aim of unifying criteria for a more efficient application of the model.
