Transparent elections to elect a new rector of the National University of Piura (UNP), demands the professor and main teacher of the Faculty of Sciences of the Department of Mathematics of this university, Flabio Gutiérrez Segura, after the irrevocable resignation of the rectorship of Santos Montaño Roalcaba.

The teacher specified that the election of an Electoral Committee is expected.
“We hope that a new clean, transparent electoral committee will be elected, leading to clean elections to once and for all institutionalize the university, which has been in great decline for many years. It is unfortunate how the university is viewed from the outside,” Gutiérrez stressed.
He stressed that the election of a rector who regains the trust and dignity of the UNP is expected.
“An authority must be chosen that regains the trust, the name, the dignity of the university, putting it at a high level, which corresponds to the first house of studies in Piura because it is the heritage of all Piurans,” Gutiérrez emphasized.
The professor stated that this university has been governed by a certain political group for several years.
“We know that for years the university has been taken over by a group that has always done what it wanted and even the elections were rigged to win with fraud and all kinds of tricks,” explained Gutiérrez.
Let us remember that Santos Montaño presented his resignation from the rectorate on December 30, due to his delicate state of health.
However, Montaño is under house arrest for nine months in the case of an alleged bribe, in which he received 10,000 soles from a supplier. The case is being investigated by the Public Ministry.
