Five tips to save on taxes

Five tips to save on taxes

The National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration () projected that the tax collection for this 2022 will be in the order of S / 150 billion. Between January and July of this year, the tax revenue of the Central Government, net of refunds, totaled S/95,782 million, which meant a growth of 16.3% compared to 2021.

This scenario occurs in a context in which more and more Peruvians make their tax payments and access the benefits of formalization. Greta Hidalgo, head of Accounting at Estudio Fuentes, announced the mechanisms that exist to promote the payment of taxes without neglecting savings. Here are five tips for doing it:

  • Register the goods. If the employer uses the property, vehicle, among other assets to work, he has the right to rent them to his company because they are different people. For example, if he pays S / 42,000 per year for rent, and declares that amount as a lease, he will pay 5%, which is S / 2,100. But, if he does not declare, this money will be considered as one more profit of the company and he will pay 34.5%; that is, S/15,000, says Hidalgo.
  • Declare salaries. The owner of the company must have and declare a salary. If this procedure is not done, it is considered that the amount did not leave the company.
  • Use deductions: When you file your taxes, here are some expenses you can consider, even for the next year: association and membership dues, regular subscriptions to magazines and publications related to your business, interest costs on business loans, business insurance on the content, office supplies used to provide products and services, travel expenses in order to obtain income for the company, payments for legal and accounting services, among others.
  • document payments. Receipts must be documented so that at the end of the year an expert reviews it and prepares its fiscal documentation. Likewise, the expenses that correspond to the preserved receipts must be noted, since keeping a record will facilitate the order of the books and accounting.
  • Hire specialists: To take advantage of any possible deduction for related expenses, it is important to engage the services of an accountant. Estudio Fuentes has specialists with extensive experience who can help you facilitate these procedures.

Finally, the expert comments that the percentage of savings will depend on planning based on a projection of reliable and reasonable data. “The savings opportunity is achieved according to the vision of each business, there is no established percentage or period. A plan must be applied for the future, taking into account the objectives set”, highlights Greta Hidalgo.
