The Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (CICPC) reported on Monday 21 about the arrest of five people, three women and two men, related to the alleged scam of the HV Ijex cryptocurrency investment platform.
The arrests were made in the Cojedes, Monagas and Aragua states. According to the department of Cicpc pressthese people “are dedicated to the collection of investors for the purchase and sale of cryptocurrencies, through the fraudulent cryptoactive platform, Ijex Exchange.”
These are Grossman Jesús Marcano Cedeño (46), Sarita Karina el Kareh el Masri (49), Anaís Ramona Arenas (46), Mirla Carolina Jaramillo Martínez (39) and Mirna Carolina Jaramillo Martínez (38).
According to the Cicpc, this group cooperated with two other people «still to fully identify and stop, to scam people and, that they invested in the company; However, after an exhaustive investigation, he revealed a fraudulent scheme that promised high yields in exchange for investments in digital assets.

The agency indicated that, after the closure of the cryptocurrency investment platform on April 14, those affected tried to communicate to the failures registered, but were blocked.
“During the research process it was determined that this system does not have the necessary permissologies for its operation in the Venezuelan territory, thus evidencing that it is an Exchange platform, under the modality of a Ponzi scheme,” it was added.
Among the evidences were collected vehicles, posters, accounting books, documentation, cell phones, computers and DVR.
The Public Ministry announced last week that the investigations were in charge of the National Prosecutor’s Office 24 with competence in common crimes, while the Cicpc said the case was at the order of the National Prosecutor’s Office number 85 in the field of human rights.
