Five Nicaraguan migrants who went to the United States in search of better opportunities lost their lives this week in a traffic accident that occurred in Texas, according to several media outlets.
The accident occurred on Highway 56, in Fannin County, when a Honda Civic vehicle, in which the Nicas were apparently traveling, collided head-on with a Chevrolet truck. Both vehicles were destroyed after the impact.
Local media reports indicate that the accident resulted in five people dying instantly, while two others were seriously injured and are being treated at a hospital.
“Five people are dead and two are in the hospital after a head-on car crash in Fannin County shortly before noon Wednesday,” Texas news outlet Noticias XII reported.

The information adds that the Fannin County Office of Emergency Management confirmed that the car tragedy occurred on Highway 56 and County Road 3212, near Dodd City.
Other media have stated that the deceased are of Nicaraguan nationality and have been identified as Martín Urbina and Oneyda Zamora, both originally from Santa Lucía, Boaco; Néstor González, Managua; Rosa Montenegro, Wiwilí, and Raquel Castillo, from Waslala and who was the one driving the vehicle in which they lost their lives.
The tragedy occurred just after noon on Wednesday, October 2, and all the victims worked for the Cony Granite Texas company and at the time of losing their lives they were going to carry out their daily work.
