the vice president Rachel Pena led a series of inaugurations in Santiago and La Vega over the weekend, which included the modern facilities of five companies in the Parque Zona Franca Tamboril that will provide 2,500 jobs.
In addition, he attended the opening of the Insight Pack International and Manojos Tobacco Process tobacco companies, of the ARV Group, in the Víctor Espaillat Mera Park, located in Santiago.
Peña also began the construction of four drinking water and wastewater solution projects to be built by the Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation for a value of RD$276,318,101.66 and attended the inauguration of the Hospital’s Forensic Pathology Laboratory Unit. Jose Maria Cabral y Baez, together with the Minister of Health, Daniel Rivera.
Likewise, Peña and the Minister of Public Works, Delign Ascension, inaugurated the return of La Penda, in La Vega, and the pedestrian bridge for motorists at Cruce de Soto on the Duarte highway, at a cost of RD$147 million. They also started the asphalting program in the Los Santos, Cecara and Las Cayenas sectors.
Peña also led, together with the general manager of Edenorte, Andrés Cueto, the formal opening of the Electric Substation, La Penda, which has an investment of RD$91 million.
New companies
The new companies Tamboril are Colina Shoes, which will provide 1,200 jobs; Keen, with 580; the multinational CM Metals, with 350; Top Choice Apparel Corp, with 250; and the Full Packing of the Caribbean, with another 120 jobs.
Peña said that despite the difficulties that the country has experienced due to the global crisis of covid-19, the Government celebrates the good performance of the productive system and the results it brings to economic recovery.
He affirmed that history is being made by reaching record figures in the free zones and the recovery of 100% of jobs, as well as the largest number of new business openings.
