Five people were injured when a medical oxygen cylinder exploded in a place where they filled the cylinders, on La Atlántida Avenue, in the Catia La Mar parish, La Guaira.
The M/G Carlos Pérez Ampueda, Vice Minister for Risk Management and Civil Protection, confirmed the deflagration on his twitter and pointed out that it occurred in the company Distribución Mi Gas.
Firefighters sources from La Guaira reported two houses and four affected cars. The wounded were transferred to Provesalud and the Periférico de Pariata, but they had not yet been identified.
It was learned that the company operated on the ground floor of a three-story house, where two families also lived.
Two other businesses were also affected by the explosion that, according to the neighbors, “was very strong, everything moved,” said a resident of a nearby house, indicating that the entire block was covered in smoke.
