Five people died and six others were injured this Friday night in a fire that occurred in a pyrotechnic material deposit in a workshop in the eastern part of Limareported the Peruvian Fire Department (CBP).
CBP Brigadier Giovanni Jacome noted that “Five bodies were found, one of which is presumed to be that of a girl who lived in the area.”

For his part, the Minister of Health, Jorge López Peña, reported that “six people were injured by burns”, being five of them transferred to a hospital in the areaaccording to a report on Twitter from the Ministry of Health, which also indicated that there are some with burns of up to 70% of their bodies.
The affected area, Ate Vitarte districtis about 500 square meters of a pyrotechnic workshop and multiple family homes, the lifeguard said.
Jacome said about the victims that “could be a family or workers, we cannot specify”.
Minister López lamented the five deaths and indicated that his office “It is giving psychological attention to those affected by the fire.”
Brigadier Jacome, for his part, explained that “at the time of removal, and as it is a pyrotechnic workshop, we understand that they have worked with gunpowder“, to explain the reasons for the event, which is already under control.
At least 17 fire vehicles and 10 ambulances from the Ministry of Health responded to the incident.

The emergency took place in kilometer 12 of the Central Highway, an impoverished area and that leads to the Peruvian Sierra from Lima.
Fires are usually frequent in peripheral areas of the Peruvian capitalwhere old buildings serve as warehouses for flammable materials without higher safety standards against fires or other accidents.
