The Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Angel Maneroannounced that five countries are interested in developing the Majes Siguas project, located in the southern region of Arequipa.
“We want to inform the country that just as last November we announced the start of the international call to build the infrastructure of Majes Siguas, in Arequipa, this week we already have the first results that include expressions of interest from countries that want to participate to build this work. We are pleased to announce that five countries have submitted it,” he said.
“We want to announce that five countries have submitted their expressions of interest. And these countries are of the highest level in terms of infrastructure development. These countries are Israel, the Netherlands, Canada, the United Kingdom and Japan,” he added.
Manero revealed that one of those five countries will be in charge of developing the project in the Arequipa region through the “government to government” mechanism. In addition, he assured that by April 30 it would be known which country would have been awarded the work.
This is a comprehensive project, which consists of Majes I, the intermediate dam, and Majes II, the latter of which is pending an arbitration solution, a task given to ProInversión. The investment in the comprehensive Majes Siguas project amounts to 3,000 million dollars
For his part, Premier Adrianzén highlighted the country’s international reputation for stability. “That is why these countries that are powers and serious countries want to come and invest in Peru.”
