Five Corinthian fishermen have been missing at sea for 15 days

Fifteen days have passed without news, but their family and friends do not lose hope that their relatives who disappeared at sea will return alive. “Don’t lose faith,” they say. The Naval Force authorities and the fishermen have not stopped the search for the five Corinthian fishermen lost on the high seas two weeks ago.

The five artisans were traveling on the Albacora boat, which is presumed to have been shipwrecked. Despite the fact that an intense search has been carried out and they have spared no financial resources for their search, there is still no trace of them.

For 15 days in a row, at least three and four boats from the William Gonzales collection, where the fishermen worked, set sail from Corinto to carry out the search, but no results have been achieved. The search by air has not been effective either, despite having a private plane and the support of the Air Force. “We no longer know where to look, we have traveled great distances and there is no trace,” members of the search team indicated.

The Bay of Corinth, from where the fishermen set sail in search of gold fish and did not return or show any signs of life.

Meanwhile, the economic collections continue inside and outside the country, to obtain the necessary resources and continue looking for them. “We remain firm and with faith, we cannot lower our guard, nor lose hope,” said a relative of one of the disappeared fishermen.

El Salvador supports the search

The commission of eight fishermen who traveled to El Salvador to coordinate with the Captain of the Naval Force of the neighboring country and reinforce the search and rescue work of the crew, returned to the country after five intense days of searching, without results.

“They provided us with two boats, the navy told us that they also had boats and told us that they would be in coordination with all the forces in the Pacific, we are doing the impossible and we accomplished our mission.” Gonzalez assured.

Fishermen’s relatives continue to wait and do not lose faith that they will appear alive.

“I have been in contact with the tuna boats and they have not seen anything, not even a lid from a thermos drum, I have several friends who are captains of those boats and they are notifying me, but nothing, they always send me news: ‘look, we have not seen nothing,'” he said.

Record time at sea

“In my memory that I remember this is the oldest shipwreck that has been recorded, other two days have emerged, but they have been found, our hope is that they are still alive and that some current took them longer to where we have not been able to arrive and that some ship finds them”, says Gonzáles.

The missing fishermen are Moisés Antonio Morales Vallejos, 22, Dayan Salvador Madriz Ampié, 19, Pablo Benito Pérez Miranda, 37, Kevin Saúl Araúz Pacheco, and Abelardo Alexander Mendoza, 25, all from the Port of Corinto.
