Five cases of dengue have been detected in the province of Colón, so far in 2022, as confirmed by Edgard Preserveregional Director of the Ministry of Health.
Coto stressed that all the cases have been registered in the district of Colón and that the levels of infestation of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito in the detected places are very high.
He assured that vector inspection personnel constantly carry out nebulizations and fumigations, but it is important to eliminate breeding sites.
“The fumigation only kills the adult mosquito, but the larvae that are in the breeding sites are still alive, so it is important to eliminate the breeding sites,” he said.
On the subject of dengue, the director of the Metropolitan Health Region, Israel Cedeño said that it is also necessary to try not to produce breeding sites and ensure health security by constantly cleaning common areas as part of the necessary self-care to deal with this disease.
“Remind the population, first of all, that not everything is Covid and second, you do not have to produce hatcheries,” he specified.
