Five arrested for stealing military weapons

Five people were arrested for their alleged responsibility in the theft of weapons belonging to the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), according to military sources.

The arrests took place in Miranda and Bolívar. The recovered materials had been stolen on April 2 during an assault on a military vehicle in the Los Rosos sector, trunk 10, between Upata and San Félix, Bolívar state. At the scene, subjects wearing clothing alluding to the Cicpc intercepted a vehicle, stealing three AK 103 rifles as well as 37.5 kilos of gold.

Four months after the robbery, GNB officers recovered one of the rifles stolen last April; that is, an AK-103, caliber 7.62×39, with a magazine containing 30 rounds.

And in the La Raiza sector, Santa Teresa del Tuy (Miranda), the military recovered one of the three stolen pistols and 6 kilos 640 grams of the gold taken from the officers in April of this year.

Both the gun and the gold medal were found inside a house, where they also found a rotary pistol charger, ten unfired cartridges, five telephone sets, twelve forged ID cards, a Chevrolet Aveo Lt, license plate AC442PA and a Hyundai Elantra, license plate 7A6A5YV.

Five people identified as José Enrique Correa Rodríguez (El Sabino), José de Jesús Bacca (Baca), Andrés René Pacheco Fayola (René, Karelis del Valle Correa Rodríguez (Karen) and Osmary Gabriela Torres Tabaré, classified as members of the El Comandante criminal gang, were arrested on site.

In another incident, military agents arrested Luis Eduardo Henríquez Rodríguez in El Nula (Apure) and seized seven pieces of a Light Automatic Rifle (FAL), caliber 7.62 × 51 mm, two handguard covers, a recoil spring, a gas piston, a barrel, a mechanism box cover, a wooden stock, two chargers, two telephone sets and a Haojue motorcycle, model HJ150, white, without a license plate, according to a report from the 353rd River Detachment of the GNB.
