Fishermen in Pedernales ask to buy fuel without restrictions

PEDERNALES.- This border woke up this Friday under tension due to a protest by the fishermen, who blocked the entrance to the beach area demanding that they be allowed to buy fuel for their daily work.

The protest that was staged by employers and fishermen, was intervened by special tactical forces of the Army of the sixteenth Infantry battalion, in reinforcement of the National Police.

Meanwhile, a contingent of the Dominican Navy penetrated the beach area, cordoning off the entire coastal perimeter and removing from high tide to the waters dozens of Haitians and fishing boats from the neighboring nation anchored in search of fuel.

The protest of the fishermen is in demanding that they be allowed to buy fuel without restrictions to carry out their work.

They complain that they sell fuel to the Haitians without any inconvenience, while the fishermen put obstacles in their way and sometimes seize their gasoline.
