Governor Cláudio Castro met, in Brasília, with the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, on the day that the Federal Supreme Court (STF) approved an agreement between the Rio de Janeiro government and the Union on the final points that allow the state to enter the Regime. of Tax Recovery (RRF).
The moment is important for Rio to be able to grow and develop again, said the governor. “There were more than 100 points of discussion that dropped to 30, 20, seven and now we have closed the deal. It is the sign of a new time for the state to recover. Soon, we will sign the definitive entry into the Tax Recovery Regime,” he added. The meeting was yesterday (21).
Economy Minister Paulo Guedes stated that Rio de Janeiro has a governor concerned with fiscal responsibility. “We negotiated a long time. We want to help the state within the rules that guarantee a better future and we reached an agreement. It is an important day and a new time. Rio will come back strong,” he said.
The governor also recalled that, after eight years of rejected accounts, the State Audit Court (TCE-RJ) unanimously approved the data relating to last year’s accountability, which projects a positive outlook for the future for the River.
Negotiations
During negotiations with the Union, the State of Rio demonstrated that state and federal law were compatible in relation to some points of the Tax Recovery Regime. State law recommended, for example, compliance with the spending ceiling for the Tax Recovery Scheme with some exceptions, in relation to trienniums and capital expenditures.
The State Attorney General’s Office (PGE ) demonstrated to the Union’s technicians that, in relation to the three-year period, the state will pay the additional service fee only for current civil servants, eliminating the inclusion of civil servants who enter the state public service after of law.
In May 2021, the government of Rio de Janeiro requested entry into the new regime, whose membership was confirmed on June 4 of last year. The total debt with the Union is R$ 148.1 billion.
