Fiscal evasion debt in Sancti Spíritus exceeds 300 million pesos

Fiscal evasion debt in Sancti Spíritus exceeds 300 million pesos

Madrid/A total of 365,600,000 pesos (more than $ 925,000 to informal change) must the taxpayers of Sancti Spíritus, if the figures presented are true This Monday by Escambray. The official newspaper does not expose it, but it is what adds the amounts of different control operations carried out by the National Office for Tax Administration (ONAT), it is understood that in recent months, although they also do not detail the temporal arch.

On the one hand, 2,050 “actions” – what Escambray It describes as a “minimum” among the 16,500 taxpayers registered in the province – “fundamentally to businesses dedicated to importation, which give signs of bulky profits, maintain high sales levels or are located in places with remarkable influx of public.”

The inspections showed what the Provincial newspaper calls an “unable truth”: “absolutely all the inspected subdeclared”, and owe 163.5 million pesos (more than $ 400,000 to informal change).

The reasons wielded by these “breach”, listed by Escambray, go from “ignorance” to pay for profits and not for gross income

The reasons wielded by these “breach”, listed by Escambraythey go from the “ignorance” to pay for profits and not for gross income, through “accounting difficulties”, “lack of control over their sales”, “increase in raw materials” or the “high rate of change of the dollar in the black market.”

Without specifying whether it is part of that newly discovered or ancient debt, the spirit newspaper refers that the ONAT has charged debtors More than 132 million pesos, but still has a list of other 2,700 taxpayers with backward payments, which amount to more than 128 million pesos.

Other taxpayers, more than 2,400, says Escambray which were “verified” to verify their fiscal bank account. From that inspection were “tens of fines” those that “have not opened or use this payment instrument and breach with the duty to deposit the result of their sales in the bank, as well as accept the online payments that customers demand so much for the existing cash deficit in the branches.”

On the other hand, the ONAT found about thirty MSMEs with “declared losses” that nevertheless owed 600,000 pesos and, at the same time, “it is in a process of verifying a group of affidavits of 2024 where notable subdeclarations have been found, until now estimated at almost 30 million pesos”.

No one in the province has received prison sentence and only one person, three years of correctional work without internment

All this added almost 300 million pesos, which, if more than 43 million and a half pesos are added to pay 164 taxpayers to those who evade the treasury the exit of the country, amounts to the more than 365 million calculated in the first paragraph.

If the debt is much, they do not seem to be, however, the consequences. In the beginning, the ONAT forces to pay what should more a surcharge and a fine. If this penalty is breached, “they go to the so -called pressing route and, if they definitely do not cover their debts, they can even be taken before a court for the crime of tax evasion.”

Those forced to this route do not reach the dozen, according to the information of Escambrayand of them only three “complaints were filed.” From the rest, some were filed “because they paid the money” and others remain pending. No one in the province has received prison sentence and only one person, three years of correctional work without internment.

The regulation It seems to be the most used, and quite effective sanction, judging by the data: 194 taxpayers were lifted, after charging them in total about 128 million and a half pesos. Half of the “sub -disclarants” pay what owed in the established time, indicates Escambraywhile most of the other half are still in “negotiation process.”

And all this, taking into account that Sancti Spíritus is, according to its provincial newspaper, “among the best provinces in the country in terms of the quantity and effectiveness of fiscal control actions.”

The distrust of citizens in the institutions, the lack of transparency when explaining in what public money is used – the authorities are limited to offering percentages of the great budget items, without even reaging State.
