The Venezuelan delegation of the Legislative Power, led by the deputy and president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, attended the first Binational Parliamentary meeting between Venezuela and Colombia, with the aim of defining the work plan and carrying out the next five border encounters (Zulia, La Guajira, Táchira, Norte de Santander, Apure, Amazonas and Amazonas).
From the Simón Bolívar Bridge in the state of Táchira, bordering Venezuela and Colombia, Rodríguez explained to the press that both parliaments have an understanding agreement to jointly address social, commercial, economic, political and social control issues, which are fundamental for the harmonic development of the border, “it is a very lively border of 4 thousand kilometers of living existence, where there is a permanent flow of people”.
He also added that the commissions of both chambers have been left installed, to begin to address together with the mayors, governors, councilors, the living sources, the merchants, businessmen, ranchers, the peasants of the border areas, the common agenda and thus accompany in legislative matters, all the policies issued by both presidents, Gustavo Petro and Nicolás Maduro.
The most sensitive issues in the border areas, trade, flow, transportation, the total opening of the border, and security will be addressed in this historic meeting.

For her part, the senator of the Colombian Parliament, Gloria Flórez, indicated that within the work agenda, 5 meetings will also be implemented, in which the dates to attend the different axes of the Venezuelan territory will be defined, “we are going to address the most sensitive issues for border dwellers”.
“The message we are giving is that the voice of the border, of the inhabitants, of the social movements, of the mayors, the governors of the Colombian-Venezuelan border, must be taken into account in this binational meeting,” said Flórez.
He assured that the parliaments of Colombia and Venezuela are working to continue uniting the peoples in the cause of regional and Latin American integration.
