First-time ministers of the Supreme Court publish their first draft sentences

The ministers who debuted in the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) on September 1 began to publish their first draft sentences, with which they seek to fulfill their promise of offering more accessible justice to the people, through shorter and clearer resolutions than those of their predecessors, and even supported by artificial intelligence (AI).
Until now, the plenary session has mainly discussed projects by the ministers who returned to office – Loretta Ortiz Ahlf, Yasmín Esquivel Mossa and Lenia Batres Guadarrama – in which the length was reduced, although without substantial changes in the language or format.
In the lists of Court matters for the next two weeks appear the first projects of Minister Arístides Rodrigo Guerrero García, who introduces the most innovative changes in the preparation of high court rulings using the SentencIA tool and with introductory summaries that explain, in clearer language, the problems of each matter.
For example, in the unconstitutionality action 6/2025, of 39 pages, it proposes to agree with the National Human Rights Commission and invalidate articles of the municipal income law of Michoacán 2025 that set fees for the reproduction of information, considering that they violate the right of access to information and the principle of free access.
In addition, Guerrero adds to the original file a QR code to interact with the sentence, an icon to listen to its audio summary and, after its approval, a link to YouTube with the discussion of the matter.
Also included are the projects of the Minister President, Hugo Aguilar, related to amparo trials. One of them, 6674/2024, 13 pages, summarizes the case of a person in San Luis Potosí who challenged his sentence for qualified homicide. Aguilar proposes dismissing the appeal “as it does not contain an issue of constitutionality that can be resolved by this Supreme Court.”
In the past, Minister Margarita Ríos Farjat was the first in the SCJN to use AI, with the Sor Juana platform, which made it possible to consult public versions of her projects and ask about their content, conclusions and precedents in a simple way.
