First secretary of the PCC in Holguín on El4tico: “They have the soul of traitor invaders”

Joel Queipo Ruiz / Ernesto Ricardo Medina y Kamil Zayas

LIMA, Peru – The first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) in the province of Holguín, Joel Queipo Ruiz, spoke out this weekend regarding the arrest of the young members of the El4tico audiovisual project.

Through a publication on Facebookthe leader of the Castro regime described Ernesto Ricardo Medina and Kamil Zayas as “faces that look innocent and have the soul of traitorous invaders.”

El4tico is a dissident space within Cuba that, since creating content on social networks, has amassed more than 50,000 followers in a short time alone. on Instagram. According to the NGO Justicia 11J, one of the first to denounce the arrest of the young people, from a room in the province of Holguín, the members of the project carry out critical social and political analyzes aimed directly at the power on the Island.

According to Queipo Ruiz, the audiovisual project “responds to imperial interests,” a narrative that the Castro dictatorship frequently uses to justify its repressive acts against freedom of expression and the independent press.

“It turns out that those who want to paint people as innocent and defenders of human rights incite disobedience to the constitutional order and support the military intervention in Cuba, a total disrespect for the right to life, which is the main human right. They are not simple creators of content, nor are they young people who only disagree with the revolutionary process, but rather people who are responding to an agenda with the interests of the enemy,” highlighted the communist director.

Likewise, the first secretary accused Medina and Zayas of working with “a manual to overthrow the Cuban Revolution for which millions of dollars are allocated.”

“The Cuban people will never allow wage earners who sell the Homeland to want to take away our freedom and sovereignty with imperial interests. It is not a favor, it is a right that the Homeland has to preserve its independence,” argued Queipo Ruiz.

The arrest of El4tico

The young Kamil Zayas was arrested last Friday after a raid carried out by State Security agents in the house where the contents of the project are produced.

According to the complaint published by Justicia 11J on Facebook, the operation included the invasion of security forces with a “search warrant” in the property that functions as a recording set. As part of the operations, the young Ernesto Ricardo Medina was also imprisoned.

Anticipating his arbitrary arrest, Zayas left a statement that was already published on social networks and in which he defends his position and denounces the repressive actions of the Castro dictatorship.

«If you are seeing or reading this, it is because they finally found a way to trap me, to try to put the temporary gag on me. It is necessary to know that I am not arrested for stealing, for assault, for trafficking or for any common crime. “They arrest me for the only “crime” that a dictatorship does not tolerate: daring to look straight and say out loud what we all notice: its blunders, its chronic inefficiencies, its systematic injustices and the oppression that crushes the dignity of an entire people,” Zayas highlighted.

In the last hours, along with the demands of activists and independent civil society on the Island, the demands for the release of the United States Embassy in Cuba and several Cuban-American congressmen such as Mario Díaz-Balart and Carlos Giménez stood out.

“We join the call of many to release and respect the human rights of the young people of El4tico in Holguín – Ernesto Ricardo Medina and Kamil Zayas Pérez,” the diplomatic headquarters demanded on its Facebook page.
