Flu and Verdão with perfect campaign
Three games, three wins. This is how Fluminense and Palmeiras said goodbye to the first phase of the Copinha. In Group 25, Tricolor faced Sfera at the Gabriel Marques da Silva Stadium, in Santana do Parnaíba (SP), and won 2-1. Moleques de Xerém will face Reference in the next stage of the competition.
The result was celebrated by Água Santa, who beat Brasiliense earlier, at the same venue, 2-1. Netuno, as the ABC Paulista club is known, qualified alongside Fluminense and will face Ituano in the second phase.
Flu opened the scoring against Sfera before the first minute of the ball rolling, with William Lopes hitting low from the edge of the area. The home team sought a draw at 31, with Borba, with a shot into the left corner. In the 43rd minute, fellow striker Isack Gabriel, with a penalty, guaranteed the victory for the Cariocas and eliminated the team from Santana do Parnaíba, who needed to win to qualify and eliminate Água Santa.
At Arena Barueri, in Group 27, Palmeiras showed up in the second half to defeat Remo, 3-0. In the eighth minute, Juliano finished in the middle of the area and opened the scoring. At 16, Juan Gabriel finished off the goalkeeper and increased the advantage. Finally, in the 35th minute, fellow striker Sorriso gave final numbers to the match. Verdão’s opponent in the knockout stage will be Vitória.
The triumph of Palmeiras, who are two-time Copinha champions, guaranteed the classification of Monte Roraima, who beat Batalhão 3-2 in the first game of the day at the Arena. The Boa Vista team, second in Group 27, will face Flamengo de Guarulhos as its rival.
Sextet 100% and Colorado in suffocation
Last Saturday (10), 28 matches defined the situation of 14 groups. Highlights include Santos, São Paulo, Red Bull Bragantino, Ituano, Botafogo and Fortaleza, who finished their respective participations in the first phase with 100% success.
Current champions, Tricolor were responsible for the biggest defeat: 6-1 in Real Soccer at the Walter Ribeiro Stadium, in Sorocaba (SP), in Group 19. Glorioso also defeated: 5-0 over Taubaté at Joaquinzão, home of their opponent from the interior of São Paulo, in Group 22.
Atlético-MG could have been another team to finish the first phase with a perfect campaign, but lost to Audax 3-0 at the José Liberatti Stadium, in Osasco (SP). The home team finished Group 29 in the lead, ahead of Galo, who was already classified and advanced in second place.
Another traditional club to stumble, but manage to get a place in the knockout stage, was Internacional.
