The Melo 2026 carnival begins tonight
Everything is ready for the 2026 Melo Carnival to begin, which will have the attractions of local groups and also the contribution of special guests.
It is worth remembering that this year, as in previous years, there will be 5 parades along Aparicio Saravia Street. In addition to today’s event, there will be activity on Sunday and Monday in the first section, Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st in the final stage, with a show at the Municipal Summer Theater on Thursday, February 19.
The order for the first parade has already been established, which will have the participation of 28 numbers between groups, ensembles and soloists.
The start is set for 9 p.m., except tomorrow when it will start at 10 p.m. for the match that the Cerro Largo teams will play at the Municipal Stadium.
“Carnival is coming, the only thing missing now is for the person above to send us good morning because everything else is ready” said Christian Morel
“All the groups are already paid, the security is paid, Aparicio Saravia is already looking white between Del Pilar and Remigio Castellanos streets. New fences have been incorporated, the cabins in a new location. We are ready. Now everything depends on the weather” said the Mayor of Cerro Largo.
PRICES ALREADY ESTABLISHED
As he did during the 10 years that he was in charge of the Municipality of Río Branco, Morel wanted to put order in terms of the prices charged for different services during the carnival.
“We had to make it clear because we received a few screenshots of people who were negotiating the tables at a price that was not the one we had agreed upon” expressed to THE DIARY PROFESSIONAL.
“We agreed with the merchants on a price of $1,500, 50% for the Municipality and the other 50% for the businessmen.” revealed the Communal Chief of Cerro Largo.
“Apparently in some cases they were not working that way” held.
“A few minutes ago we received the beautiful news that the Ministry of Tourism almost doubled the economic contribution of the last carnival” he remarked. “That is why I am very grateful to our Tourism Manager, Lizet Ruiz, but particularly to the Ministry that is betting big this year with the Melo carnival” Morel highlighted.
INVITATION TO A METEOROLOGIST
In an exchange that took place live on Channel 10, the possibility of inviting Nubel Cisneros arose. “Actually, let’s be clear: I invited my cousins, I invited friends I have in Montevideo and I also invited Nubel Cisneros” confirmed.
“What Nubel is not going to do is parade, but what better thing than to invite him to come to our house” said the Mayor of Cerro Largo. “For me, Melo is like it was my house and I invite people to my house who make me have a good time. At carnival it’s the same, I want to invite people from all over the country. I invited Mayors, I invited Deputies, I invited Senators, I invited Ministers and I also invited Cisneros” Christian Morel closed.
