In principle, one of the great conclusions was announced by the mayor of Bogotá: “But both projects, line 1 and line 2, are going ahead, we are going to move the metro forward in Bogotá.”

For his part, the Transport Minister Guillermo Reyesassured that the President had asked the builder of the first subway line to review the possibility of undergrounding it, but that the financing, the contract and everything related to that line was maintained.

Likewise, the president would have evaluated the possibility of making a proposal for a review of costs and of making the layout of a part of the underground Caracas. “That does not imply that the contract and what was agreed will be modified, simply and simply that by January 8 the contractor has been asked to present a proposal of what it would mean to make a part of Caracas subterraneanized”Reyes explained.

However, the mayor also assured that “vWe are going to take forward the Nation’s guarantee for the contracting of debt with the multilateral bank to make the second line of the subway to Suba and Engativá. The President has said that he is committed to moving it forward and has given instructions for us to move forward with that section“.

Regarding the second line, Petro would have said that they would have to do a review of the resources available for construction given the current economic situation.

Reyes assured that Petro would have asked the director of National Planning and the Ministries of Finance and Transportation, that given the country’s macroeconomic situation, the medium-term fiscal framework and the crisis in mass transportation systems, it is essential to carry out a study and a review of the resources to finance this mega project that would give continuity to the extension of this means of transport.

“Let it be clear that there is still no order to suspend any of the stages of the process,” said the head of the Transportation portfolio.

Finally, as for Calle 13, this would be done under the public transport operator La Rolita and its electric buses and not as a concession of the TransMilenio system. “The 13 goes for the load, platforms and cyclists but it will have public transport thanks to the Rolita. The same thing happened with the crash regiotram. This will go to its maximum capacity and will be integrated into the public system of Bogotá“said the mayor.
