The First Lady of the Republic, Maricel Cohen de Mulino, took office as president of the Alliance of Spouses of Heads of State and Representatives (ALMA), an organization made up of the First Ladies of Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil and Panama.
At an event parallel to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the first ladies meet every year to renew their presidency and review the past year.
“As the First Lady of Panama and, as of today, President of ALMA, I firmly believe that we must join forces to strengthen those initiatives that have already begun and, at the same time, create new opportunities to work on our common goals,” said the First Lady.
Likewise, Cohen de Mulino shared a video with her counterparts where she showed the projects that are being implemented and that will continue throughout the administration, including: I learn and have fun learning about my story, a day house for the elderly, adaptation of rehabilitation centers with the Ministry of Government, love on wheels, as well as sterilization days for dogs and cats.
The Alliance of Spouses of Heads of State and Representatives (ALMA) has the mission of facilitating collaboration and the exchange of good practices between the First Ladies of the region with the purpose of supporting the efforts of the competent authorities and entities of each of their countries.
