San Pedro de Macorís. –The first Raquel Arbaje, together with the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Mario Lama, delivered this Friday the expansion of the Emergency and the general renovation of the Pedro María Santana Municipal Hospital, in the Los Llanos municipality.
First lady Raquel Arbaje highlighted as an achievement the democratization of health that today allows almost all Dominicans access to health insurance and services such as those offered by the ChequéateRD program.
«The renovation of this hospital, which is part of a broad program of renovation and construction of health centers, is the result of the work of Dr. Mario Lama and his team from the National Health Service, within the framework of the government’s policy of prioritizing the well-being of Dominicans,” added Arbaje.
The first lady thanked the medical team and the nurses who, with the center in precarious conditions, did not stop providing their service to the population.
“My thanks also to Mayor Juan Ventura and Governor Yovanny Baltazar for their interest in the conclusion of this work,” concluded Arbaje.
Meanwhile, the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Mario Lama, stated that this work reaffirms the Government’s commitment to strengthening health services, offering accessible medical care to the population of Los Llanos and its surroundings. surroundings.
«In the Dominican Republic, an unprecedented event occurs in the health sector, in such a short time, more than 60 hospitals were delivered renovated and equipped, like this, we know that there is still a long way to go because in August 2020 when we arrived at the SNS the management of Infrastructure and Equipment found that 54% of the hospitals were practically in poor condition, that is, of 195 hospitals, about 100 were in conditions not suitable for providing assistance and as of today they have been delivered more than 60, ensuring the right to health of all Dominicans,” Lama said.
The Pedro María Santana Municipal Hospital was selected by the SNS for the expansion of its Emergency, renovation, modernization of the electrical system (medium voltage), adaptation of the X-ray area, offices and improvements in various critical areas, with a total investment of RD $104,176,630.35.
Equipped and conditioned to guarantee quality care, the health center now has five offices, a confinement area with seven beds, a nursing station, two post-surgical beds, an operating room, a delivery room, a Neonatal area with three cribs, sterilization, and a pharmacy. , Laboratory and Sonography. In addition, a Dentistry cubicle, Morgue, Warehouse, Kitchen, Laundry, Dining room and Tuberculosis area.
Also, its expanded Emergency has a Waiting room, Triage area, two nebulization stations, an office for treatment, two observation cubicles and a shock trauma box, for the convenience of users who go in search of services.
