Santo Domingo.– First lady Raquel Arbaje delivered this Friday an endoscopic tower that strengthens specialized care for Dominican children at the Dr. Robert Reid Cabral Children’s Hospital, and a new front elevator for the benefit of medical personnel and hospital users.
The endoscopic tower, purchased at a cost of RD$7 million, has high-definition cameras, precise video processors and a light source, allowing for more precise diagnoses, and can be used in a wide variety of medical procedures. The front elevator cost RD$2.2 million.
When making the delivery, the first lady highlighted the importance of initiatives that contribute to more humane, efficient and safe patient care, especially in hospital centers that receive children.
For her part, Dr. Mabel Jones, director of the center, thanked Arbaje for the support. He highlighted that these improvements represent a significant advance in the hospital’s modernization process, both in infrastructure and medical equipment, with a direct impact on the quality of services offered to the pediatric population.
Today’s delivery joins other interventions by the first lady in favor of the Robert Reid Cabral, which include new essential areas for child care, facilities for the billing department and sample collection cubicles, equipped to offer better care to the families who come to the health center.
In addition, the first lady has developed rehabilitation projects for specialized units within the hospital, such as the Pediatric Oncology Unit, converted into a modern and functional space for boys and girls receiving oncological treatments.
During today’s event, the remodeling of the hospital lobby was also delivered, whose budget and monitoring of the work was in charge of the Friends Against Childhood Cancer Foundation (FACCI), directed by Roxana Rizek and Alexandra Matos de Purcell.
