As part of the commitment made by the First Lady of the Republic, Maricel Cohen de Mulino, to improve the conditions of the prisoners at the Women’s Rehabilitation Center (CEFERE), Cecilia Orillac de Chiari, this Wednesday 10 sewing machines were delivered to equip the workshop, which will allow the inmates to continue their sewing courses and start their own businesses.
Previously, and thanks to the management of the Office of the First Lady, in coordination with the Ministry of Government and Pandeportes, the adaptation of the CEFERE courts began, so the prisoners organized their teams for the internal league, but they needed 90 pairs of shoes, in that sense, through the Office’s social networks, the request was made to the private company, and the response was encouraging, the donation of more than 90 pairs of sports shoes was achieved.
Likewise, managers from the Xtra supermarket accompanied the first lady on her visit to the women’s center and donated cleaning products, including 50 gallons of bleach, 30 gallons of disinfectant and 25 bags of detergent. Deliveries will be made periodically.
In addition, thanks to the efforts of the National Directorate for the Prevention of Crime (DIPRED), a donation of tools for the center’s garden was delivered.
The First Lady was also informed that the guards had been relocated and were in better condition than she had seen during her initial visit.
Cohen de Mulino then went to Hogar Bolívar where he delivered zinc sheets together with representatives of the private company, since the roof of this space that houses some 64 elderly people is deteriorated. The labor will be carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MIVIOT).
Hogar Bolívar was founded in 1883 and has the capacity to care for 90 to 150 seniors, but due to the high cost of maintenance and lack of staff, this is not possible.
“We continue to contribute our grain of sand and to negotiate with the governing authorities in each area to improve the quality of life of these groups in society that need our support, once again thanks to the private sector that has made itself available to the Office to collaborate,” said Maricel Cohen de Mulino, First Lady of the Republic.
