With the aim of promoting agricultural development and the implementation of innovative technologies, Abonos Dominicanos (ABODOM) held the first international seminar on avocado cultivation in collaboration with the Dominican Agrobusiness Board (JAD). This meeting brought together more than 200 producers from the country and included the participation of internationally renowned specialists, who shared their knowledge on best practices to achieve efficient and high-quality production.
José Ramón Peralta Abreu, general director of ABODOM, highlighted in his opening remarks that avocado cultivation represents a great opportunity to boost the growth of Dominican exports. “At ABODOM, we are firmly committed to accompanying and supporting our producers, providing them with technological innovation and specialized technical advice to ensure more productive and sustainable crops,” he said.
For his part, Osmar Benítez, president of the Dominican Agro-Business Board, also spoke, highlighting the relevance of the event and the institutional commitment to promote training spaces for producers. “Our objective is to promote knowledge among farmers and provide the necessary tools so that they can manage their crops in a more efficient and sustainable manner,” he said.
The seminar not only reinforced ABODOM’s commitment to the agricultural sector, but also highlighted the growing export potential of avocado, a key product for the country’s economic development.
Panel with specialists
During the seminar, producers had the opportunity to interact directly with international experts, asking questions and receiving personalized advice on best practices for managing avocado crops.
Among the invited experts were David Fernando Restrepo (Colombia), who gave a lecture on crop management for high production; Glayce Lopez (Brazil), with a focus on nanotechnology applied to agriculture; and Juan Fernando Solís Aguilar (Mexico), who spoke about pest and disease control.
The seminar was held at the facilities of the Dominican Agrobusiness Board (JAD) in Santo Domingo, and was attended by more than 200 producers from different regions of the country.
The event brought together international specialists who shared their knowledge on innovative technologies and advanced agricultural practices, providing a valuable learning and collaboration opportunity for the Dominican avocado sector.
