MIAMI, United States. – The first scenes of the film inspired by the life of Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal, known artistically as El Taiger, came to light this Wednesday on social networks, just two months after his death in Miami.
In a short video shared by the Instagram account “un_martitodurako8_live_oficial” The actor who plays Carbajal – whose name has not yet been revealed – can be seen together with several young women in a room, offering a first look at the environment that will recreate his story.
Alberto Yoel García, director of the film and actor recognized for his performance in the film Havana Bluesconfirmed the start of filming by publishing a similar scene on his personal account: “El Taiger movie. “Already filming”, he wrote accompanying a short clip.
Days ago, García had announced the making of the feature film, which will seek to delve into the most significant milestones of the artist’s career and personal life, whose repertoire included hits such as The story and Speak, killer.
The filmmaker, who has previously participated in projects such as Cuban X own account and Vesselrevealed that a little over a month ago he was searching for young people between 13 and 18 years old with physical features similar to those of El Taiger, which suggests that the film will address his formative years.
García also announced that the film, produced by MediaHavanaTV, is scheduled to premiere in February 2025.
Taiger died on October 10 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. According to official reports, the reggaeton singer was found shot in the head and remained hospitalized in critical condition for a week. Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales reported that Damián Valdez-Galloso, initially wanted as a “person of interest,” turned out to be the only person responsible for the murder.
Morales too confirmed in a press conference that Valdez-Galloso was the material author of the murder of El Taiger and assured that no other people were involved. “Damian was the one who shot; is responsible and there is no other person involved,” Morales emphasized.
On October 3, the Police received an emergency call made by Valdez-Galloso himself and arrived at the scene at 6:45 am. Thus, the officers found El Taiger bleeding from the head near the intersection of the Northwest 9th Avenue and 17th Street, in Miami. The artist was taken to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition for a week before died on October 10.
