The first case of femicide is registered in the department of Potosí. This is a 29-year-old woman who was an official of the Municipal Administration and was beheaded by her partner. The Prosecutor’s Office reported this Wednesday that the author of the act fled.

“The death of a 29-year-old woman was recorded, who was killed by her 46-year-old husband, who cut off her head, but also has blows to the face. The perpetrator fled,” he reported to Page Seven Digital the Departmental Prosecutor of Potosí, Roxana Choque.

He explained that the removal of the body was done at approximately 7:00 p.m. yesterday in a private home in the city of Potosí, where the couple lived with their three-year-old son, who now remains an orphan.

Police continue to search for the suspect, but managed to apprehend a relative who had knowledge of the incident. The investigations will give more details of the causes of the murder, added the prosecutor.

According to the Observatory for the Exigibility of Women’s Rights, 536 orphaned children of femicide were registered from 2016 to 2022. The document indicates that in that period more than 700 women were victims of femicide.

The State Attorney General’s Office reported that between January 1 and March 1, a total of 16 women were registered as victims of femicide so far this year in the country. The largest amount was recorded in the trunk axis.
