First edition of Dominican Week begins in Spain

The Week Dominican in Spain (SEDE) began this Monday in Madrid with a program of activities designed to strengthen the relations bilateral relations and promote exchanges business between Republic Dominican and Spain, in the celebration of its first edition.

This event, which will take place in different emblematic points of the Spanish capital, seeks to create a space of collaboration and dialogue between both countries, promoting both investment such as appreciation of the Dominican cultural heritage.

At the same time, they will explore opportunities of cooperationbusiness and mutual development.

Over the next four days, SEDE will offer a series of conferences specialized courses that cover key topics such as the perspectives economic of the Republic Dominican, opportunities of investment in free zones, the development of the country as a logistics hub, the impact of artificial intelligence, and the study of free trade agreements.

These talks will be complemented with meetings bilaterals focused on alliances strategicas well as cultural activities that will allow attendees to learn more about the Dominican identity.

Among the cultural events, stand out tastings of rums and tobaccos Dominicans and tributes to prominent figures of the Dominican diaspora.

The activities will be developed in spaces such as the Meliá Fénix Hotel, the Santoña Palace, the Mapfre Foundation, the Center for Financial Studies and the headquarters of Banco Sabadell, passing through the Santo Mauro Hotel, the Parque del Oeste, the Génova Financial Club and Casa América.

HEADQUARTERS will bring together large companies such as Grupo Puntacana, Mapfre, Grupo BHD, Nodo, Schad, Global Storage, Logourmet, Russini Vecchi & Heredia Bonetti, Estrella and Iberia, among other private companies that support the celebration of this event.

Opportunities investment

The event will serve as a platform to strengthen commercial and cultural ties between both countries, while opening new opportunities of investment in strategic sectors of the Dominican economy, such as infrastructure, health, education and tourism.

The program includes a table round about the climate of investment in the Republic Dominicanin which the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), Víctor Bisonó, will participate, who stated that there are opportunities of investmentespecially in the free zone sector and the manufacturing industry.

During this session, possible collaborations will be discussed in strategic growth sectorsseeking to create a network of cooperation between companies and institutions of both countries.

The Week Dominican in Spain it has been organized by the Foundation Week Dominicanwith the support of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the Republic Dominican and the Dominican Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs.

In the presentation of the event, the president of SEDE, Manuel García Troncoso, highlighted the opportunities that the Republic currently offers Dominican for the investment abroad, in areas that go far beyond tourism.

“Now there are more opportunities than ever to invest in the Republic Dominican safely, and not only in tourism but also in other fields such as universities, hospitals, supermarkets or infrastructure – water, energy, waste management, transport, health, training, restaurants… – that can support the significant growth that the country lives in,” he pointed out.

As an example, he highlighted the new ferry between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, which is being developed by the Spanish company Balearia.

The Dominican ambassador to Spain, Juan Bolívar Díaz, and the president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the Republic DominicanFrancisco José Pérez Menéndez, were also present at the opening ceremony, highlighting the importance of this initiative for the strengthening historical and cultural ties between both nations.

SEDE not only aims to highlight the cultural and economic influence of the Republic Dominicanbut also provide a space for collaboration between the public and private sectors of both countries, reaffirming the commitment to promote growth and cooperation international.
