Editrudis Beltran took over on Saturday rectory of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and instructed an operational reform commission to achieve the dismantling of the teaching load of the professors of the academyone of his main campaign promises.
Beltrán also reported in his inaugural speech that the commission has 60 days to look for alternatives to solve the problem of overcrowding in classrooms, which can be occupied by up to 60 students.
This delegation must also develop an application methodology for the review and updating of all careers in the nine faculties.
“In addition, this commission will define the policy for the beginning of the process of decentralization of administrative services until the bureaucracy in the procedures of the administration is eliminated. UASD”, he commented.
The code of ethics
The new rector announced that, in order to exercise the functions under his charge, each executive designated in the coming days must publicly sign the public servant’s code of ethics.

Lack of resources
Beltrán pointed out in the presence of the country’s president Louis Abinader that to end the year UASD will require 1,029. 9 million pesos additional for payroll, current expenses and the programming of the next semester in face-to-face mode.
Although he also pointed out that spending efficiency is needed in the academy and a modern management for which he promised to make cuts in what he called “unnecessary expenses.” Among these is reducing the role in administrative processes and fuel consumption.
The physicist recognized that, historically, the discussions around the UASD they are about the need for resources to meet the demand for being the university with the greatest presence at the national level, the one that hires the most professors and the “greatest social equalizer” in the country.
“We will necessarily have to talk about economic resources to meet the demand for student income each year,” said Beltrán, a physicist who has held various administrative positions in the Primate of America.
