The Government reported this Wednesday afternoon that the President Gabriel Boric appointed a series of service directors. In this context, the President appointed the first Christian Democrat in a government position, under the current administration. It is about the doctor and ex-deputy Victor Torreswho will be the new Superintendent of Health.
Torres is a surgeon at the University of Valparaíso and is currently a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the same house of studies.

He was a deputy for three consecutive periods (2010-2022), being a member of the Health Commission during these same years. Between 2007 and 2008 he was Provincial Governor of San Antonio.
He has also worked as a general practitioner in the Municipality of Petorca, Chincolco Clinic.
In addition, he was a secondary student leader and President of the Student Federation of the University of Valparaíso.
The head of state, in turn, appointed Camilo Cid Pedraza as the new director of the National Health Fund (Fonasa).
Cid holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from ARCIS University, a master’s degree in economics from Georgetown University, and a doctorate in health economics from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.

Boric’s other appointments include the Labor leadership, which will be headed by Pablo Zenteno Munozlawyer from the Central University of Chile, master’s degree in employment, labor relations and social dialogue in Europe from the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
The Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) will be directed by Valentina Duran Medinaa lawyer from the University of Chile with a master’s degree in environmental law taught jointly by the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and the University of Paris II Pantheón Assas.
Meanwhile, the director of the National Migration Service will be Luis Thayer Correasociologist from the ARCIS University and Doctor in Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid.
