In the first bulletin of the “Awareness for Life, Christmas and New Year 2002-2023” operation of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), five deaths were reported as a result of 32 traffic accidents.
The 32 accidents registered in the first stage, which runs from two in the morning on Friday to six in the morning on Saturday, involved 22 motorcycles, one light vehicle, two run overs, two heavy vehicles and five unspecified ones.
Of the total deaths, two were inside the body’s device and three outside.
The director of the COE, retired Major General Juan Manuel Méndez reported that 52 people were assisted due to alcohol poisoning, including two minors under the age of 14, and 12 due to food poisoning.
The provinces with the highest number of reported cases are the National District, Santo Domingo and La Vega.
During the operation, which ends this Sunday the 25th at six in the afternoon, 44,321 people will be deployed to different parts of the country to prevent unfortunate incidents and events.
In addition to the installation of 1,243 assistance posts, located at points where a greater number of incidents have been detected in previous operations.
