Santiago de los Caballeros.- Facades, a non-profit organization, presented with enthusiasm his new editorial project, the Architecture Guide: Santiago de los Caballerosa pioneering work that fills a gap in the bibliography on the vast and diverse architecture of the second largest city in the Dominican Republic.
This Guide includes the history and description of one hundred cultural buildings built between the 16th and 21st centuries in Santiagoto which are added public spaces and the profiles of prominent authors who symbolize the resilient spirit and entrepreneur of the first Santiago in America.
In addition, it incorporates innovative elements such as QR codes to locate the estate and access additional audiovisual content, such as videos and digital tools, as well as two episodes that will be presented through the Radio Areyto podcast, available on Spotify and YouTube.
The research work fell into the hands of the people of SantiagoEdwin Espinal Hernández, historian and lawyer; Carlos Guillen and Martín Rosario, architects, and Fausto Ortiz, photographer.
During the presentation of the project, which took place at the León Center, the president and founder of Fachadas, Oscar Polanco Reynoso, highlighted that this specimen “is not only novel in the context of the Northern region, but also in relation to its predecessors in Santo Domingo and San Pedro de Macorís, by integrating digital tools that enrich the reader’s experience.”
Polanco Reynoso stressed the importance of this project for the Dominican cultural heritage: “This copy is a powerful tool for documentation and diffusion of our cultural heritage, and we are certain that it is a first step towards the execution of strategies that lead to their valorization and insertion as elements that continue to contribute urban, economic and social changes in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros.
