Despite the progress made in one of the affected areas, in the containment of forest fires, government authorities maintain that the emergency that affects various regions of the center-south of the country cannot yet be considered over.
“It remains to consider it overcome, I mean that we have reported that it has been decided to lower the Red Alert in the Ñuble region to Yellow Alert, but two regions remain on Red Alert: the Biobío region and the La Araucanía region. will evaluate the evolution of those regions to eventually consider the emergency over, but today the emergency cannot be considered over,” explained the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, along with highlighting the aid to the victims.
“We have a peremptory deadline that the President of the Republic has set, which is to have all the emergency housing installed prior to winter, we have set ourselves the first half of April as a goal,” added the official from the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security, in addition to highlighting that there are important advances in some regions: in the case of La Araucanía there are 220 requested and 60 homes built.
“Our focus of concern continues to be the Biobío region,” added Undersecretary Monsalve.
According to the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), so far, 183 emergency homes have been built in different regions.
