It seems that the producers, citizens and authorities of currents they begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel, since finally the strenuous days of the brigade members begin to have an effect on the forest fires.
As indicated by the Civil Defense in its latest report, 80% of rural fires in the province were extinguished, and the remaining foci in currents they are “contained and controlled”.
This thanks to the tireless work of the brigadistas since in previous days, the rains came to currents after months of drought, so rainfall put out several fires.
“There are 18 active fires in the northwest quadrants, they are contained and controlled and they especially affect ravines and wetlands”, assured the deputy director of Civil Defense, Bruno Lovinson.
Likewise, the official stated that only the focus in the Esteros del Iberá area could not be controlled due to difficult access, so efforts will be redoubled to try to put out the flames.
Meanwhile, it is expected that the rainfall expected in the next few hours will help combat the fire emergency that occurs in the province for more than a month.
Alberto Fernandez visited Corrientes
Last Friday, the president flew over the areas affected by the fires in the company of Governor Gustavo Valdés to get a closer look at the situation.
In turn, Alberto Fernández met with the brigade members who have been at the forefront of the emergency since the first day to try to control the flames.
After his tour, the Head of State announced a budget increase to recover burned native forestssince the fire has consumed almost a million hectares.
Even the flames devastated the Esteros del Iberá, the main wetland in Argentina and habitat of unique species, such as the Pampas deer, the maned wolf and the collared yetapá, which are in danger of extinction.
