Valle Nuevo, Constanza.-forest firefighters of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources they extinguished a forest fire in the Limoncito areanorthwest of Valle Nuevo National ParkConstanza municipality, in the La Vega province.
The authorities are investigating the causes to bring those allegedly responsible for the incident to justice.
The Forest Fire Control Directorate of the Ministry, together with volunteers from the community, worked to extinguish the fire.

The fire was controlled at 11:00 at night thanks to the efforts of six forest firefighters and five volunteers, under the coordination of technician José Alfredo Durán, in charge of the Fire Management and Management Program.
The incident was detected from an observation tower in the Pajón Blanco area and was attributed to illegal agricultural activities. These practices violate laws 64-00 of the Environment and Natural Resources and 202-04 of Protected Areas and Biodiversitywhich prohibit such activities in protected areas.
Julio César de los Santos Bueno, administrator of the Valle Nuevo National Parkexplained that the fire developed in an area with a steep slope, with patches of shrub and tree vegetation.
The Ministry of Environment reiterated the importance of citizen collaboration in the prevention of forest fires.
In particular, he called on farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural techniques that prevent the spread of fire during land clearing for planting.
