He Body of Firefighters of the District National attended 6,063 emergencies and provided 7,801 services from January to December 2024 in the different sectors of the capital.
According to the relief agency’s statistical summary, in 2024 the emergencies most recurrent were the fires electrical with 1,393, followed by gas leaks with 695. Likewise, 609 were treated fires residential and 604 rescues terrestrial.
The firefighters 588 attended emergencies due to fallen trees, 352 per accidents traffic, 337 due to fire forestry or in landfills285 for fire vehicular202 for spill fuel and 147 rescues of animals.
The emergencies of 2024 were higher compared to the previous two years, having 5,510 assists in 2023 and 4,058 in 2022.
The general José Luis Frómeta Herasme, mayor of the Body of Firefighters of the DN, highlighted the support of Mayor Carolina Mejía with incentives, contributions for the training of members and equipment for the performance of work.
He also stated that the Government central grants benefits that result in the well-being of team members, such as health insurance, life insurance and bonuses. “This means that the staff is working as efficiently as possible to provide this service to citizens in the best way, saving lives and property,” he indicated.
For him mayorthe increase in emergencies is related to growth population of the District National, plus the people who enter that territory daily to work or study. Furthermore, he related this increase in assists with the protection and rescue of the animals that they offer every day.
Other figures
The cases of minors of emergencies assisted were 73 rescues in height, 51 rescues aquatics and 18 explosions.
The services offered in 2024 were 7,801, of which the largest number occurred in care medical with 3,394, in the services miscellaneous with 1,208 and in the investigations of fires with 886.
He Body of Firefighters of the District National performed 446 inspections to companies348 training, certifications to public establishments with 283 and 241 certifications of fires.
Frómeta Herasme stated that the firefighters are closer to the people, thanks to the increase in talks in educational centers, government offices and inspections in commercial establishments.
