MIAMI, United States. — A distributed generation site located in the municipality of Mariel, province of Artemisa, caught fire last night, according to reports that appeared in the state press.
The fire broke out on the roof of the facility, although it was later controlled and extinguished by the area firefighters.
Lázaro Manuel Alonso, journalist from caribbean channelassured in social networks that the flames “did not reach great magnitude.”
“A fire on the roof of the Mariel distributed generation site was extinguished by firefighters minutes ago. The flames did not reach a great magnitude, ”the reporter wrote on his Facebook account.
Alonso indicated that “several teams of firefighters from Artemisa went to the place and managed to control the incident in a short time” and that the motors of the site were gradually reincorporated to the delivery of electricity to the National Electro-energy System (SEN).
“This Sunday there were no blackouts in Cuba due to a deficit in generation capacity, they confirm from the Unión Eléctrica, the official journalist specified.
Digital portal forum members cubadebate they insinuated that the incident registered at the distributed generation site located in Mariel would have been the result of sabotage.

The fire in Mariel was recorded on the eve of the start of the National Fire Protection Week. The objective of the authorities is to strengthen its security system against these events and promote a preventive culture in the population.
