The Minister for Ecosocialism, Freddy Ñáñez, reported that The fire in the Henri Pittier National Park was controlled after the flames restarted in the La Placera sector.
Through his social networks, the head of the environmental portfolio highlighted that during the early morning hand-to-hand combat operations were reactivated, work in which 78 volunteers and officials participated.
The incident was put out at 3:00 am this Friday and five hours later the liquidation tasks were reinforced with air support to guarantee an effective finish.
Ñáñez specified that the affected vegetation was mainly savanna, managing to prevent the fire from advancing towards the dense forest or reaching the Caño Colorado basins.
Likewise, the minister recognized the work of the forestry, urban and volunteer firefighters who, in perfect union, managed to put out the flames.
Finally, he thanked the Aragua state government for its support and stressed that the authorities remain in the active surveillance phase, under the premise that “protecting nature is defending life.”
